Boardmasters Festival is canceled because of severe weather warning, although this is an annual event that was to take place in Cornwall.

The three-day event combines music with surfing and skateboarding competitions in Newquay. It can trace its heritage back to 1981 and more than 50,000 people attended in 2018.

Florence and the Machine, Foals, Jorja Smith, and the Wu-Tang Clan were among the acts that were supposed to play at the festival.

Heavy rain and strong winds were predicted, so the police and independent safety advisers were consulted. The organizers decided to cancel the entire Boardmasters event in fear of risk.

They said in a statement, “The safety of you, the fans and attendees, as well as performers and crew comes first, and the potential risk is too severe for the event to go ahead at this time.”

“We sincerely regret the disappointment to fans, and apologise for any disruption caused to local businesses, performers and crew who were looking forward to Boardmasters as much as we were.”

Information about ticket refunds will be available “as soon as possible”.
