The U.S. women’s soccer team dominated the 2019 Women’s World Cup. The national team defeated the Netherlands on Sunday by 2-0 in the championship match.
The Lyon, France victory fascinated the whole world because it marks the fourth world title and back-to-back wins for the team after winning the trophy in 1991, 1999, and 2015.
No one scored during the first half of the game, at the 61 minute mark, co-captain Megan Rapinoe scored the first goal of the game with a penalty kick. Midfielder Rose Lavelle, scored the second goal of the game just before the 69 minute mark.
Rapinoe was in disbelief after the win, “It’s surreal, I don’t know how to feel right now. It’s ridiculous.” She was awarded The Golden Boot for scoring the most goals in the shortest amount of time.
