The two-time Oscar-winning actor, Mahershala Ali, will be taking over the role of Blade from Wesley Snipes.
Marvel made several announcements at a panel in Comic-Con International in San Diego on Saturday. They arguably saved the biggest news for last. Mahershala Ali revealed the news by wearing a ‘Blade’ hat.
In Marvel Universe, Blade is a half-human, half-vampire character that hunts down the undead. After Snipes played the role back in 1998, and again in 2002 and 2004, a new ‘Blade’ will be taking over.
Aside from starring in the latest installment of ‘True Detective’, Ali has won multiple Academy Awards for his roles in ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Green Book’. This makes him the first Muslim actor to win an Academy Award.
