Lil Nas X has now made Billboard chart history, as Old Town Road is Billboard’s Hot 100 number 1 hit featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.
For the 17th consecutive week, it has taken the number one spot.
This makes Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s ‘Despacito’ and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s ‘One Sweet Day’ step aside. They both lasted 16 weeks and this broke a new record.

The song’s longevity is fueled by the remixes of ‘Old Town Road’ in the last few weeks. The first remix is by famous yodeler, Mason Ramsey and the popular Young Thug.
The second is a version with RM of BTS, this resulted in a remix titled ‘Seoul Town Road’.
Lil Nas X wrote: “This song has changed my life and the way I see the world around me.” As he celebrated the achievement on Instagram with a video of him and Cyrus recording the track.
He went on to thank ‘every single person who has been a part of this journey’, adding, ‘As I said before it’s just the beginning!’
