Fifteen-year-old Coco Gauff lost to Simona Halep, making her first Wimbledon dream come to an end on Monday in the fourth round.
The American teen was defeated 6-3, 6-3 by Simona Halep. The first week of Wimbledon Coco Gauff defeated the five-time Wimbledon singles champion Venus Williams and the veterans Magdalena Rybarikova and Polona Hercog.

Despite her loss, Gauff captured many people’s hearts including Jaden Smith and Michelle Obama. She was still the youngest player to reach the fourth round since Jennifer Capriati in 1991.
Many believe that this is not a surprise since Halep was the world’s number one as of twelve months ago, and Gauff was losing in the juniors tournament’s quarter finals.
No doubt that Simona Halep was under huge pressure as the crowd was clearly cheering Gauff relentlessly. Gauff was also not feeling well on court and called on a doctor in the second set.
“I wasn’t feeling very well but I still played my best. I’m not sure what it was but I still had fun even though I was losing,” she said. “I learned a lot about how to play in front of a big crowd and how to play under pressure. I am really grateful for the experience.” She added.
