This weekend, dozens were shot in Chicago, including two mass shootings in less than 3 hours on Sunday. Seven people killed and 46 wounded, in Chicago shooting.

The first shooting occurred around 1:20 am near Roosevelt and Francisco in Douglas Park. Someone opened fire from a black Chevrolet Camaro wounding 7 people.

Only 3 hours later, eight people were shot near Lawndale near 18th and Kildare around 3:45. Out of nowhere, a group of unknown shooters opened fire on civilians at a block party. This has led to a dead Demetrius Flowers, 33, and wounded seven more.

Demetrius’ father commented on this tragedy mentioning that he has lost two sons to violence.

“Please stop. It’s killing our families, it’s destroying the fiber of our communities. We have to stop this senseless killing, because if we don’t, there’s nothing going to be left. There’s nothing going to be left,” Keith Flowers said.

The most recent Chicago shooting occurred around 10:15 pm on Sunday near 69th and Wentworth in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. Someone in a silver sedan pulled up and started an open fire on victims driving south on Wentworth

The driver then crashed and was pronounced dead immediately from hitting a lightbox. He was 21 and had multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

The violence in Chicago comes on a weekend that saw mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday and Dayton, Ohio, on Sunday that resulted in at least 30 people killed and dozens injured.
