President Trump wants to buy Greenland, is it true?

It is confirmed that President Trump is interested in buying Greenland for strategic reasons.

His plan is to purchase the Arctic island from Greenland, which is a semi-autonomous territory of 57,000 people between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans.

According to the Sun, the Danish government said that the mass of land is not for sale.

Mette Frederiksen, prime minister of Denmark doesn’t like the proposal at all. She said to reporters, “Greenland is not for sale. Greenland is not Danish. Greenland belongs to Greenland.”

She thinks the idea is ‘absurd’, and added, “I strongly hope that this is not meant seriously.”

Reports say that the Trump is in fact considering it, but it isn’t his top priority right now. Speaking in Morristown, New Jersey, as he prepared to board Air Force One, Trump said:

“Denmark essentially owns it. We’re very good allies with Denmark, we protect Denmark like we protect large portions of the world. So the concept came up and I said, ‘Certainly I’d be.”

“The concept came up and …strategically it’s interesting,” he added, “It is not number one on the burner, I can tell you that.”

In reaction to that, Greenland’s foreign minister, Ane Lone Bagger, had told Reuters: “We are open for business, but we’re not for sale.”
